Join us at Davy’s Wine Vaults for an evening celebrating the wines of Bodegas de la Marquesa, Valserrano, from Rioja. We are delighted to welcome Pablo de Simón, owner and producer, who will be joining us in Greenwich for a tasting that truly captures a sense of place.

The evening begins with a guided tasting led by Pablo, followed by an informal paella dinner and a Spanish cheese course, all enjoyed alongside his wines. Pablo will be on hand throughout the evening to share his insights and answer questions.

Please note, seating will be at a communal table. Tasting & talk from 6.30-7.30pm followed by an informal paella dinner. We aim to wrap up the evening by around 9.00pm

One of Rioja’s leading producers

Valserrano is a family-run winery based in Rioja Alavesa, renowned for its exacting standards. The estate works exclusively with fruit from its own vineyards, ferments in stainless steel, and ages its wines in oak barrels, a proportion of which are renewed each year. The result is a range of wines that combine elegance and freshness with the soft, spicy character that defines great Tempranillo.

Now in its fifth generation, the winery is led by Pablo alongside Jaime and María de Simón, who are gradually taking on key responsibilities as part of the family’s generational transition.

Valserrano has quickly established itself as one of Rioja’s leading producers, with many wines scoring over 90 points from internationally respected critics including Decanter, The Wine Advocate and Tim Atkin.

After a welcome glass of the 2023 Rioja Blanco, awarded 92 points by Decanter, Pablo will introduce the history of the estate and the winemaking traditions of Rioja Alavesa. The tasting will include a selection of the winery’s finest wines, including the outstanding 2019 Rioja Blanco Gran Reserva, awarded 94 points by Tim Atkin and stunning 2020 Finca Monteviejo 92 Points, Decanter. All wines tasted are shipped exclusively by Davy’s.
